Highs in mid-40s expected Wednesday, weather officials say



As the National Weather Service began its Illinois Severe Weather Preparedness Week, officials expected highs in the mid 40s Tuesday after a Monday of temperatures reaching 70 degrees.

The warm Monday temperatures followed a stormy night of thunderstorms in portions of northeast and central Illinois.

Tuesday, highs near the mid -40s are expected, with a 60 percent chance of rain in the morning hours. Officials are expecting breezy conditions with wind gusts up to 30 mph.

In the evening hours conditions are expected to be cloudy and remain breezy.

As a part of the National Weather Service Illinois Severe Weather Preparedness Week, officials said there will be a statewide  tornado drill at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport was light rain and windy at 41 degrees. At Midway Airport farther south conditions are the same at 43 degrees.
