Dec 23, 2016 · 10 people found this helpful. You might need a new engine coolant temp sensor, it's on the thermostat housing, it's a common failure on 300's of your year. It can also cause the ECM to remain in "open loop" mode (which can cause a number of running issues).
I've got a 06 300 2.7 that is overheating. Water is being pushed back into the reservoir and was blowing out the weep hole . I have changed the tstat twice, new water pump, new temp sensor, new hoses, new reservoir, new radiator, new bleeder all done within the last 1-9 months.We have changed the thermostat and it is still overheating. We took it to the dealership and they put it on the computer and told us it showed no problems. Advised us that we probably got a bad thermostat or put it in backwards. Check that the cap is securely fastened and sealing OK.
