Hi everyone,
we are living in Cayenne, French Guiana, and are planning to leave in July for a 4-6 months trip in Sth America with a car. We were first thinking to go to Venezuela or Brasil to buy the car and sell it in Chile before flying home to France but it seems impossible to buy a car in a country and sell it in another. As anyone done that ?
If it is impossible, we will buy the 4×4 in Cayenne and make a round trip, or put the car in a container and ship it to France.
If anyone has done this kind of operation, we’re intersted in any advise, as it seems nobody has never left Cayenne by car to make this kind of trip…

Hello,
I think it is possible to buy a car as I met other who did buy one in south america and were using it in other countries and crossing borders without any problem.
I am not sure however that it is a good idea to try buying a car in Venezuela. From what I heard, it is the most unsafe country in SA and even if you want to exchange a small amount of money – convertibility is a big issue. Probably, better to try it in Brazil instead. Or just buy one in FG and travel with that.
Happy travels.
